I ain't coming

What a shame.

We were all off to the 'Over The Edge Rally' tomorrow with a friend and Gadgeteen's girlfriend, but she isn't allowed to come so Gadgeteen doesn't want to come. I don't blame him for not wanting to leave her here to come his own though, and he says he wouldn't enjoy it without her so would probably be miserable most of the time.

I always knew and accepted that one day he wouldn't want to come away with us anymore, and that one day we would be able to trust him staying at home alone. He is 17 now so quite capable of looking after himself and probably he and his girlfriend will chill out at home quietly most of the weekend.

It happens so suddenly though and without any warning. All was fine and he was coming and looking forward to it, then he met his girlfriend and life has narrowed down to when he is going to see her next.

Gadgetman isn't happy about it really but can understand Max's predicament and choice.

I will miss having him there.

"Gadgetman isn't happy"
Understandably so I expect. It's a very uneasy step.
How then will he manage when it is GadgetGirlie that wants to stay behind....

Hello - you may think this is a bit odd but we found your blog when we were researching Macauley Road, Vancouver Island BC. We are moving to BC in June and wondered if you would be happy to tell us a bit more about what it is like round Orel lake please?
Will check back here periodically to see your responce.
Regards
Lisa & Tony

Hi Lisa & Tony, Glad to have your visit......Orel Lake is at the end of a 17km dead end road with varying plots of land used for various purposes all along the road either side. It's beautiful if you like being away from the hubbub of thru or main road traffic, and don't mind driving for 20 mins to the nearest shop, taking care to avoid deer in the road along the way. Both my brothers have plots opposite the lake that they have developed themselves and we hope to buy a plot as and when one becomes available nearby after we get thru and past the visa issuance stage. Homes are anything from mobile homes to large scale grand houses, some visible from the road and some hidden from view in the trees.
We are flying out in July for 6 weeks too and so look forward to being in the area. The Oyster River is a very popular swimming destination for us at various local swimming holes. We sail alot and the marina is 40 mins away down in Comox.
Let me know if you want to get in touch. I am also on Britishexpats.com as in my sidebar under 'Places I visit' so you can contact me there under the user name 'Robin (The Gadget family)' as well. I don't want to put an email address here but if you'd like to meet up if you are local to us here or during the summer on Vancouver Island then we'd be delighted to meet with like-minded people...if indeed we are......

Mered.....Hi.....Gadgetman soon got into the spirit of island life for the weekend and Gadgeteen made Gadgetgirlie a lovely birthday cake for our return. A successful weekend then with no unexpected visitors......
